What are BB and CC creams?
BB creams were originally developed by German dermatologist Dr Christine Schrammek in the 1960s. They were intended to promote skin healing after dermatological procedures such as chemical peels and lasers. BB creams soon became popular in South Korea, where they underwent further development. There, they gained huge popularity as multifunctional cosmetics, combining skincare with delicate make-up. CC creams appeared a little later to expand the concept of BB creams. CC creams were designed to focus more on correcting skin colour and brightening skin tone. They help even out the skin tone, reduce redness and discolouration, and give the skin a healthy glow.
What skin types are BB creams and CC creams for?
BB creams and CC creams are cosmetic products designed for different skin types, and the choice depends on your individual needs and expectations. It is important that you choose a cream that is well suited to your skin type and the effect you want to achieve. BB creams have less pigment, so they will have less coverage and be slightly lighter. Their function is rather to subtly even out your skin tone. Instead, they contain moisturising and nourishing ingredients to care for your skin. CC creams are better at concealing imperfections and discolouration, but give a more natural effect than foundations.
How to apply BB and CC creams?
You can use both products in two ways. You can use them exactly as you would your everyday skincare cream or you can apply your favourite serum or cream underneath. This will enhance their skincare properties. You can apply BB and CC creams with your hands and pat them in with your fingertips or spread them with a sponge for a more even coverage.
