MASCARAS
It's hard to imagine eye make-up without mascara. With mascaras, you can subtly accentuate your lashes or add drama. You can use them on their own or as part of an elaborate make-up look. You can choose mascaras that lengthen, curl or thicken your lashes. There are also those that perform all these functions at the same time.
How to choose a mascara?
Start by taking a close look at your lashes. Perhaps they are long and just lack a subtle curl? Or perhaps they are curled up nicely, but you'd like to make them look thicker? The function it is supposed to perform is the basic criterion for choosing a mascara. Also consider whether a waterproof mascara will make sense in your case. While it is definitely more durable, it is more difficult to remove on a daily basis. However, it is good to have it in your make-up bag for special occasions.
Mascaras – brushes
An important consideration when using mascara is the correct choice of brush. Mascaras are available with classic bristles as well as silicone tips. Brushes can also vary in shape, from completely straight to tapered or curved. How mascaras work depends largely on the type of brush. Some brushes have double-length bristles, which is great for short lashes. Mascaras with a curved brush lift and curl the hairs.
How to apply mascaras?
Mascaras are usually applied as the last step of make-up, but you can successfully apply them on their own. If your lashes are thin and weak, apply a base with conditioner function before applying mascara. Use the brush to apply mascara from the root to the tip in a zig-zag motion. For a stronger effect, repeat the process before the first coat is completely dry. Finally, use the tip of the brush to carefully highlight your lower lashes.
Remember that you should replace your mascaras every three months or so. Otherwise they will start to dry out and flake, and using expired cosmetics can irritate your eyes.
